The Pauli Murray Center is looking for an architect with historic preservation experience to work with us as we renovate the National Historic Landmark Pauli Murray Family Home at 906 Carroll Street in Durham.

REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS NOTICE TO ARCHITECTS 

The Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice is soliciting Statements of Qualification from experienced practitioners and design firms to provide historic preservation architect services.

The Pauli Murray Center has received a grant from the National Park Service for the restoration of the Pauli Murray Family home in Durham, NC. The Pauli Murray Family Home is located at 906 Carroll Street, Durham, NC and is designated a National Historic Landmark. The house dates to 1898. A historic structures report is available here

The deadline for responses is 5:00 pm on May 22, 2019. All respondents will be notified of the results by EMAIL, so please provide accurate contact information. Statements of Qualification will be reviewed by a selection committee using a standardized shortlist evaluation form. The committee will select a minimum of two (2) applicants for interviews. Interviews are anticipated to be held the week of May 27, 2019, at a time and date designated by the selection committee. 

Written responses should include 1) A letter of introduction, 2) Names and qualifications of licensed architects and other personnel, including principals who would oversee work for the Pauli Murray Family Home project, 3) List of the firm’s in-house architectural capabilities in regards to historic preservation projects, 4) List of names and qualifications of any sub-consultants and role on project team, 5) Firm’s prior experience with historic preservation projects including similar project experience with African American cultural heritage sites, 6) Reasons why firm would be uniquely qualified for the Pauli Murray Family Home project, 7) Project references, 8) Proof of current professional liability insurance coverage, and 9) Proof of licensure. All firms shall be licensed in the State of North Carolina.

The Pauli Murray Center welcomes proposals from firms with a diverse workforce, including women- and minority-owned firms and joint ventures including such firms.
